Svoboda Winery is located close to a small forest of
evergreen pines, and is surrounded by its own vine growing terrains. Arranged
around the internal yard, which is planted with walnut trees, are the wine
cellar with the production premises, the cellars for wine ageing, two tasting rooms,
and a small hotel, ready to welcome aficionados of great Bulgarian wine.
The region has a rich ancient history evidenced by the Karasura
archeological excavations, located only 5 km northeast of Svoboda Winery.
Very interesting
findings dating back from the prehistoric times (5-4 millennium B.C.) to the
Medieval crusades (12 c. A.D.) have been found there. It used to be a Roman road
station on the shortest road connecting Europe with the Middle
East.
There is a Thracian mound not far from the wine cellar, on the winery's own land.
